“Medford’s Finest” by Joella Asapokhai

82 miles away
Lives a bonafide Miss
Her head held high
And a smile with bliss
The birds chirp because she’s witty and kind
Even the moon, can be cured with her shine

Her rays extend far enough to make day everywhere on earth
Sun kissing her love for all it’s worth
And leaving her past behind in the mythical night
Unique, pure, and filled with might
Lovely Miss is organically free
But dazed and homesick because honey needs a bee

Miss youthful old soul; a meritorious future yet to kiss her
Succession of pride and inspiration she enkindles in her sister
Her personality is addictive, something you might smoke
Tender and affectionate, don’t be nervous that you’ll choke

Just a little longer before the distance between us leaves me feeling sore
Uproots me from the ground
And shakes me in my core
Neither fear nor despair will play the chord in the air
Instead her gentle leading harmony
Teaches me that songbirds will sing the same cherished melody
All the way from Medford and beyond: As long as she’s ultraviolet, our days will be long.
